  • Please allow 3 working days for prescriptions to be processed and ready for collection. Our policy is to provide 28 day supply of each medication.

Medication Reviews

Regular prescriptions should be reviewed every year. You will be asked to make an appointment when your review is due.

Reviews are an important part of managing your medication and are useful to assess how your medication is working or if any changes are needed.

We call these reviews your Year of Care Review and where possible we align them to your birthday month. Depending on your long term conditions / medication your review may consist of an appointment for blood tests, blood pressure, height and weight and may be followed up by one of our practice pharmacists or a GP. You will be sent an invitation for yoour review by text or by letter if we do not have your mobile number. You will also get a number of reminders if you do not respond.

Prescription Fees

Help with NHS costs

In England, around 90% of prescription items are dispensed free. This includes exemptions from charging for those on low incomes, such as:

  • those on specific benefits or through the NHS Low Income Scheme
  • those who are age exempt
  • those with certain medical conditions
  • More information is available at NHS Choices

NHS Charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.

  • Prescription (per item): £9.35
  • 12-month prepayment certificate (PPC): £108.10
  • 3-month PPC: £30.25

If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months or more than 14 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
